Daniel P. Corbett, CPA
Principal
dcorbett@cdhcpa.com
Dan is a founding member of the firm, and also co-chairs the Manufacturing Group. His area of concentration is in accounting and tax consulting for manufacturing, construction, leasing, food and produce preparation, and distribution.
Dan is also a founding shareholder and Board Member of American Chartered Bank. He also chairs the bank audit committee.
Dan has assisted many clients in achieving financial success. He suggested that a tool and die company diversify its metal stamping area at a time when an existing product line was going off-shore. He suggested a spin-off of another product line and the formation of a separate entity that facilitated a later sale of that division to a Fortune 500 company. For a client in the meatpacking industry, Dan established a Board of Advisors and chaired annual meetings to advise and discuss key areas of business, financial and tax planning.
Before establishing Corbett, Duncan & Hubly, Dan was associated with his predecessor firm since 1979 until it reorganized as CDH. Prior to that, he was with Peat Marwick & Mitchell for three years.
Dan participated as a speaker and consultant at a Small Business Administration (SBA) sponsored symposium held at the University of Illinois - Chicago and has presented a variety of tax seminars. He has appeared on a local television program sponsored by the Herald Newspaper, speaking on new tax laws. Dan is a resource for local newspapers, providing quotes and insights on tax and business issues.
On a personal level, Dan says that the year he served in Viet Nam has significantly changed his outlook on life and has had a major impact on the discipline it takes to succeed as a businessman, husband, father, and friend.
When asked what inspired him to become an accountant, he says, "I saw it as an opportunity for advancement and financial success." He applies the same principles to his clients by proactively helping them achieve financial success through a caring partnership between the firm and the clients. He attributes his success to "hard work, caring very much for my clients, and surrounding myself with a very good staff." Dan personally recruited and hired all of the firm's partners and managers, as well as the majority of the staff.
In his free time, Dan enjoys running, golfing, traveling, reading, exercising and quiet time.
