I recently read an article on LinkedIn called Rising Above Your Routine. It got me thinking.

So much of what we do is based upon the routines we develop on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. What are we doing to get outside of our comfort zone?

Take CPA firms, for example. We have typically billed our services by the hour. Why? Because it was an idea that was adopted many years ago, and now it has become routine. The reality is, however, that it doesn’t really make sense for the customer. How many products or services do you buy where you don’t know how much you’re going to pay until AFTER you have received the benefit?

At Corbett, Duncan & Hubly, one of our core values is Growth. Growth means, simply, change as choice. It’s hard, uncomfortable, and requires looking at things differently. That’s why we have broken the routine of billing by the hour–and price all of our accounting and consulting services in advance. Our customers are telling us that it makes sense for them, too. Isn’t that what is most important?
